So What is Gamic?
Gamic is a combination of the word Game and Comic originated by Nathan Ciprik. Nathan believes that gamics is a way to pay great admiration for the talented artists who create our games rather than trashing them for their mistakes. See sample below :-
Gamic is one of the fastest way to generate role playing / fan related content for the games you are playing (particularly the mmog games). What’s so great about Gamic compared to other fan-fic/ fan-art content? Well, usually people will ended up creating :-
- Story blogs
- Posted player story
- Art related to their characters
- Computer graphic files
- Various comic
- Animation / Videos
- Crafting related items (e.g. wood craving, standee and etc)
Most common content people share are screen shots of their gameplay. So, you might want to ask, why is gamic different from the rest?
Gamic concept combines player story, comic, and computer graphic. You only need the following items to create a simple gamic.
- A storyboard writeup / sketch
- Related in-game screenshots (<—yes just screenshots)
- Some supporting computer graphics (you can get alot from forums and websites ; optional though)
- A graphic editing software
Graphic editing software?
Don’t worry about that - if you are wondering what graphic editing software you should use besides of MS-Paint, then you can try out Paint.NET which is FREE and it’s working in XP and Vista. To get Paint.NET click here.
If you already have Photoshop by all means use it but, you might want to try out Paint.NET as they have their own unique filters and effects different from photoshop.
Note: You need to install DotNET Framework 2.0 before installing Paint.NET.
or you can go pro with this software below called Comic Book Creator 2.0
Turning game content into your content!
By apply the Gamic concept you turned the in-game content into your content to create unlimited supplies of graphics. Take a look at the sample of gamic I’ve just made in just several minutes (click on it to zoom). I don’t even need to create any supporting graphics other than, the dialog boxes - instant content on the fly!
Note : Gamic technique does not replace your current way of creating content
Like title above says, gamic does not necessarily replaces your current way of creating content, it’s more like complement it. For example, if you have a passion of writing storyblogs, you now have some gamic to help your reader visualize some of the scenes you described in the story, or you can also create more realistic computer graphics related to the scenes combined with gamic technique.
