Make sure set, anti-alias off and layer 2 selected (you are supposed to draw lines on this layer). This will allow pixel perfect selection which is very useful later on. Start tracing the outline of the bunny character, don’t worry about the lines this is only use as a guide. The line tool works like this. Every line is represented with nubs. Each nubs can be bend and manipulated to form a curve. Each line can be finalized by pressing Enter key. When you are drawing a line to form a outline of the cut-out remember this process: -

  • Draw a line closest to one of the edge.
  • Bend the line a bit by dragging the nub until you match the edge. If you think you can’t match the edge of the line then, you should finalize the line. Remember you can always draw another line and complete the line.
  • Press Enter when you are satisfied or to finalize.

Repeat these three steps to draw separate lines until you outline the entire character. Don’t try to use one line to trace everything, the line will only finalize (become permanent) when you press Enter. Try your best to bend the line to suit the edge before finalizing it.
