Tammy’s GamicPress Corner #2
Good day everyone ^ ^,
It’s me again Agent Tammy, today’s post will be on how to make Japanese Lightray effect. Using Lightray effect downloadable here. Simply download the file, unzip it and copy the dll file into your paint.net effect plugin folder (by default is C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects) then, exit and restart Paint.NET.
Note: Some version or some compilation of plugins already have this effect build-in. If LightRays.dll already exist in the folder then, it is already been installed. You can look for the Effects under Render sub-menu.
Alrrighty let’s get started.

What is exactly a Japanese Lightray effect? Japanese lightray effect is usually applied behind as background when a particular comic character is high level emotional state either he/she is deeply frustrated, or extremely boastful. You see this most of the time in Japanese manga and anime. See the picture beside you.
First, create a new file with a white background. Look for the color panel usually at the far right hand side. If is not there press F7. Select Yellow and Orange primary and secondary color.

Next, proceed to Effect pulldown menu, look for Render and click on the LightRays… effect. You will notice some automatic changes to your white background into the lightray effect with primary and secondary color (dont’t worry you can cancel and undo anytime). You can also tweak around using fast position, number of rays and ratio stuff. Tweak the settings till you are satisfied and click ok to render the background.

Once, done you can then insert your character cut-outs and place it in as new layer. Save it as jpeg and you are done!
